VIKING RIVER CRUISES ANNOUNCES NEW CHINA LAND EXTENSION

Two Nights in Shanghai, Two Days at 2010 World’s Fair/World Expo

Viking River Cruises has announced a new land extension to be added to select 2010 China itineraries. Priced at $599 per person, the extension includes two nights at a deluxe Shanghai hotel, daily breakfast, two all-day passes to the 2010 Shanghai World’s Fair/World Expo and door-to-door transportation between the Expo and the hotel.“The World’s Fair/World Expo is a time-honored tradition dating back to the mid-19th century, where nations come together to share ideas about science, technology, business and the arts—showcasing the finest in human inspiration and idealism,” said Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen. “For our guests traveling all the way to China, we wanted to offer them a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit a World’s Fair.”
The 2010 Shanghai World Expo opens May 1 and runs through October 31, 2010. The Expo’s theme is “Better City, Better Life,” signifying Shanghai’s 21st-century status as a major world city and expounding on the future of the planet’s urban life. Booths and displays will be hosted by many of the world’s nations, including Russia, the U.K. and the United States. The World Expo is expected to welcome approximately 70 million visitors during its six months of operation, the largest number of visitors in the history of World’s Fairs.
“Either way, this is a perfect match,” adds Mr. Hagen. “If you are already planning to go to China with Viking next year, you now have the opportunity to stay in Shanghai and enjoy the World’s Fair. On the other hand, if you are attending the Expo and you want to discover even more of China, Viking River Cruises can take you beyond Shanghai to experience Beijing, Xian’s Terra Cotta Warriors and the spectacular Three Gorges region of the Yangtze River.”
The two-day Shanghai Expo extension can be combined with select departures of Viking’s two most popular China itineraries—the 12-day Imperial Jewels of China and the 17-day China’s Cultural Delights. Departure dates and additional details are available in the China regional section of Viking’s website, www.vikingrivercruises.com.
